Country Estate Entry

The Brief

Produce a pleasant first impression by removing the ‘paddock look’ of the entry to this estate and add value. Simplicity was the essence.

The Solution

Design an entry containing a simple design element that enhances the first impression of the Estate.

Simple entry posts, incorporating an Aluminium bar from the ground up to the top of the property Number. Only one main post was designed with this design element in order to add a slightly excentric touch to the entry.

Removing existing structure was the first stage of the construction and replacing these with new, custom designed posts, with the main gate posts being double the size to give substance of appearance. The existing gate was realigning and repainted in black with the exception of the two vertical bars holding the inserted ‘no trespassing’ plague. These two bars were painted in silver in order to add a design element and to make the gate visible in the dark.

Rewiring was executed with special galvanised cables and chrome bolts; a galvainzed steel pipe was chosen for the top rail as well as the side ankers in order to round-off the design element.

Project cost $ 2,500. The value added to the Estate is ca. $20,000 according to a local Estate Agent.

Residence, Lansell Court, Toorak

The Brief

Mimi's client favoured basic colours – black, brown, beige and cream – but wanted them used to create a highly luxurious American-style look.

The Solution

Interiors: Staying true to the American theme, large pieces of furniture were custom designed and drew influences from a few styles. Because the open plan flowed throughout the hallway, dining and living areas, three distinct rugs were designed and custom made, giving each room a point of difference. The leopard print rug in the living room matched the gilded Louis-inspired chairs that were also created.

Outdoors: A stylish but understated court yard garden was designed to produce a low maintenance environment, incorporating tiled spaces and large antique style pots and urns.

The Team: Interior Designer: Mimi Marti, Assistant Designer: Stefanie Ascenzo, Project Management & Garden Design: HF Marti.

Residence, South Yarra

The Brief

Rich gold tones were the client's pre-requisite, to create living spaces that were elegant, formal and ornate.

The Solution

To avoid a gaudy look, it was decided on complementary elements, such as a refreshing off-white sofa that instantly lightens the living room. As the client is a fan of Versace Designs, the brand’s fabric to make the cushion covers was imported from Italy. To maintain a stylish note, the glass coffee table top was paired with gilded legs, while custom designed rug featuring an emblem, imparted a regal touch. A glistening marble wall added another level of dimension to the room.
